About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Learning Disabilities Support Workers to assist individuals with learning disabilities in various care settings. The role involves providing personalised support to enhance independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. Applicants will be involved in assisting with daily activities, behaviour management, and health-related tasks, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Experience in assisted living, patient care, or related fields such as nursing home experience, Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, or home care is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities
- Supporting individuals with learning disabilities in their daily routines and activities
- Assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administering medication in accordance with prescribed instructions
- Preparing meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences
- Managing behaviour through positive reinforcement and behaviour management techniques
- Providing emotional support and companionship to promote mental wellbeing
- Assisting with mobility and light heavy lifting where necessary
- Driving clients to appointments or activities as required
- Monitoring health conditions and recognising signs that require medical attention
- Maintaining accurate records of care provided and any incidents or concerns
- Ensuring a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols including first aid procedures
Experience
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or home care environments is advantageous
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other neurological conditions is preferred
- Experience in caregiving roles involving patient care or senior care is highly valued
- Familiarity with medication administration and basic first aid skills is desirable
- Childcare experience or working with vulnerable populations can be beneficial
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Valid driving licence for transportation duties is preferred but not essential
